A Month of Beautiful Music in June
The first concert on Thursday, 5 June 2025 will be conducted by Koji Kawamoto and feature Aleksandra Swigut on piano. The programme includes Rimsky-Korsakov’s May Night Overture, Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1, also known as Winter Dreams. It’s the perfect way to open the season with music that feels just right for winter.
On Thursday, 12 June 2025, the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra continues with another strong performance, again under the baton of Koji Kawamoto, this time joined by pianist Andrey Gugnin. The concert will include Sibisi’s Umnkenenezo (Serenade), Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and Dvorák’s Symphony No. 5. Expect powerful emotions and rich harmonies from start to finish.

The third concert, on Thursday, 19 June 2025, brings back the well-known conductor Conrad van Alphen. Violinist Andrey Baranov will join as soloist. This night will take the audience on a musical journey through nature, warmth, and joy.
The final concert, on Thursday, 26 June 2025, will be led by Daniel Boico.
